PHIZUMI MFG.’s respectable business performance
Business picked up by 5% greater than expected
OHIZUMI MFG. business performance has been running at a pace much better than originally expected for 2005. In the first quarter, an increase by 5 to 6% over the previous year was recorded. With demand for air conditioners and automotive sensors expected to increase, the current fiscal term’s sales amount is projected to achieve an increase of 5%, 1% over the originally planned 4%, over the previous term.
The ordinary profits are estimated to increase by 20% over the previous term. The increase in the first quarter comes from needs of the automotive industry operating on a high note, and sudden upswing of orders from a large local company in China for its air conditioner production, as well, said Mr. Saito, President.
Production at its Dongguan factory is at full capacity. Such rising needs for car industry are because the per-vehicle number of sensors has become greater than before, rather than an increase in the number of vehicles to be produced, he continued. The company expects such high level demand to continue and plans to expand its capacity by removing and expanding its Dongguan factory to deal with such an expected increase in demand.
The substantial increase in its ordinary profits is a result of patient activities such as streamlining of its business system, reduction in inventory and improvement in productivity.
